Ford Trucks, more power and towing for 2017.
Super Duty: All-new aluminum body F-Series Super Duty can tow heavier trailers and haul heavier cargo than ever before, with maximum gooseneck towing capacity raised to 32,500 pounds on F-450 SuperCrew 4×4, fifth-wheel towing capacity boosted to 27,500 pounds and conventional towing to 21,000 pounds; maximum payload now rated at up to 7,630 pounds. These new weights puts Ford on top for class 3 truck rating. 2017 F350 dually now has a gooseneck capacity of 32,000 lbs. up from 26,500 lbs for 2016, which also puts the F350 at the top of the class 3 trucks.
New for the heavy duty market, smart technologies help make towing easier, including BLIS® with trailer tow, adaptive cruise control that works with the heaviest trailers, and Trailer Reverse Guidance to help back trailers up. This is the first adaptive cruise control made to use with trailers. It uses a radar to lock onto the speed of the vehicles you’re following. My favorite option.
I’ll be driving these new 2017 Super Duties this week in Colorado with trailers. I’ll have video’s on my website, www.MrTruck.com the end of this week.
Maximum conventional towing is increased to 21,000 pounds for F450 without the need for a weight-distributing hitch. Maximum conventional towing with F-250, with the all-new trailer tow package, and F-350 single-rear wheel are increased to 18,000 pounds.
A center high-mounted stop lamp camera provides visibility into the cargo box, which is great when hooking up gooseneck and fifth-wheel trailers. An Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System uses four digital, high-definition cameras to give the driver a 360-degree view surrounding Super Duty. Trailer Reverse Guidance provides visual cues and tips to help ease backing up a trailer.
Trailer towing customers benefit from a segment-first in-cab trailer tire pressure monitoring system, accessible from the comfort of the cab while stopped or on the highway. Blind Spot Information System with trailer tow is optimized for Super Duty to include the length of the trailer up to 33 feet long; BLIS® uses radar sensors in the taillamps to monitor areas that may not be visible to the driver.

2017 F150: Power Numbers
Now we have the power numbers for 2017 Ford F-150 with All-New 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 470 lb.-ft. of Torque. This puts F150 second-generation 3.5 EcoBoost with the most power in the class one truck, beating all the V-8 gas and diesel engines. A gain of 10 hp and 50 lb.-ft. from previous 3.5-liter EcoBoost.
The 3.5-liter EcoBoost paired exclusively with the first volume-production 10-speed automatic transmission available from any automaker.
The new engine should provide better low-end and peak engine performance, ideal for hauling heavy payloads and towing heavy trailers. But we see when we can drive them in our Colorado Rockies.
