GM had their Heavy Duty 2024 trucks out first, like 6 months ago. New this year Heavy Duty 2500 AT4X package and AEV package similar to Bison package in Chevy. This truck is the off-road monster climbing rocks and bouncing threw draws and canyons. A fun truck: 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD crew cab 4×4. This gives it heavy duty bumpers, skid plates, aluminum Salta heavy duty wheels, boron metal in the nose bash plate. A Heavy Duty 2500 GMC that can tow a heavy trailer and climb mountain trails. The GMC AT4X has a 1.5 inch lift (seems taller) and the special multimatic DSSV dampers (shocks) that automatically adjust the ride to offroad or smooth highway. Very good automatic adjusting ride. Then there is one of my favorite features, massaging seats. With our test trailer, not much squat towing 11,000 lbs. Izzy and MrTruck towed my test trailer up Poudre Canyon. For trailering, this mulit-use heavy duty truck has 14 cameras. You can see all the way down the side of your trailer, in front of your truck to avoid driving off a cliff. And cameras under your mirrors align you in parking slots. For off-road the AT4X has 35 inch all-terrain tires, rear e-locking rear differential, ground clearance is 11.6 inches, approach angle of 31.6 degrees and 25.7 degrees of departure angle. This truck will drive over your yucca and sagebrush rounding up the cattle in the sandhills.
Duramax diesel v-8 470 horsepower, 975 lb. ft. of torque from the new turbo charger with 25% more torque. Matched to an Allison Automatic 10-speed. The brake controller is situated differently that Chevy HD, which is on the dash right of the steering wheel, which is good. The GMC HD is on the center console. I like it, you can rest your arm on the console arm rest and easily adjust the gain and full trailer brake control. The hood scoop still funnels incoming air to the air filter for the intercooler and intake. Many standard options, including my favorite adaptive cruise control and massaging seats. Plus Head-Up-Display, cooled and heated front seats, heated steering wheels, power seats, keyless entry, remote engine start and seat memory. I don’t understand the 16-way power seats. How many ways can a seat move? There is good storage under the rear seat. The center screen is a 13.4 touch screen. The truck we reviewed has the standard bed (short) being 6’10” largest in the class. All this for only $103,075 MSRP.
